It’s decided, we are moving to London

Let me introduce myself, my name is Rebecca, I am from Australia and I have a beautiful Cavoodle named Sacha. Sacha is a 3 year old gorgeous girl who means the world to me. This is why when I made the biggest decision of my life to move to London, I was not about to leave Sacha behind. The decision to move from my home in sunny Australia to the hustle and bustle of big old London Town was very over whelming, not only for myself but I had no idea where to start when it came to getting Sacha to her new home safe and sound. This is why I am writing this post, to give any fur baby parents out there who are thinking of relocating a recap on my experiences, in the hopes that it might give you an idea of where to start.

To get the ball rolling I looked into getting quotes from reputable international pet transport companies. In the end I decided to go with Dogtainers in Brisbane. Although this wasn’t the cheapest option I decided to go with them because they were very professional when it came to answering my questions, had great reviewsimageonline and made me feel comfortable and Confident they would get Sacha to her new home safely.

I moved to the UK in April 2014 and wanted to make sure I was set up with a job and home before bringing Sacha over to live with me. Unfortunately this meant that I was apart from Sacha for 12 months which was very distressing for me and her. Sacha stayed with a family member for 9 months and for the next 3 months Dogtainers had arranged fabulous boarding at Dolittles Lakes Pet Retreat. Dogtainers and Dolittles made the whole process seamless and even sent me weekly photos to give me piece of mind! They also organised all of her paperwork, vet checkups, relevant vaccinations for the UK (which is a rabies vaccine that needs to be done 21 days before departure), supplied the crate, non slip absorbent mat, adaptil collar and transfers. For this service, plus the 3 months boarding it cost a total of $3500 which I think is great value considering the wonderful service they provided!

After 24 hours in the air Sacha arrived safe and sound to London. At this point in time dogs coming from Australia do not need to be obtained in quarantine so I was able to pick her straight up from the airport! (Quarantine times will vary depending on which country your pet is departing from). She arrived bright, bubbly and not at all jet lagged!I want to thank everyone at Dogtainers and Dolittles Lakes pet Resort for their hard work and for reuniting me with my best friend!
