My top 5 dog friendly Pubs in South East London to try this weekend

The Bulls Head

Address: Royal Parade, Chislehurst, Kent BR7 6NR

Phone: 020 8467 1727

The Bulls Head in located in the charming little town of Chislehurst. It is made up of 3 bars, each with its own atmosphere and character and is sure to have something to suit everyone’s tastes. The main bar area is dog friendly and shows all the major sporting events on two large plasma Televisions. The Lounge Bar is full of character and old fashion traditions, with its gorgeous decor and roaring log fire.  They offer all of the traditional dishes such as classic bangers & mash and fish & chips. However they also offer a wide range of modern healthy salads, lovely grilled fish and meat dishes. However, if you are looking for something a little more sweet, The Bull’s Head also does a beautiful cream tea each afternoon. Every time I have been here the food has been spectacular and Sacha has always been welcomed with water and doggy treats.

Ate too much and feeling tired? No worries they also offer beautiful modern accommodation.

The Tigers Head

Address: Watts Lane, Chislehurst BR7 5PJ

The Tigers Head is a lovely 18th century country pub also located in Chislehurst.  It is bursting at the seams with charm with its low ceilings, exposed brick walls and original log fire places. It also offers a large outdoor area which is a great place for you and your pooch to dine or to just stop by for a drink. The food on offer is your traditional pub grab but is done to a very high standard. The prices are very reasonable, atmosphere is very welcoming and the service is great. I would highly recommend visiting this pub next time you are in the area.

Recommendation: Beef ribs YUMMY!

The Shortlands Tavern

Address: 5 Station Rd, Bromley BR2 0EY

Phone: 020 8466 0202

The Shortlands Tavern is one of mine and Sacha’s favourite summer hangouts. With its gorgeous beer garden decorated with vintage treasures and beautiful greenery it is the perfect place to chill with your friends on a warm afternoon (including the four legged kind).  The menu changes depending on the day and season and offers dishes such as the tradition Sunday roast to fun out door BBQ’s in the warmer months. The Shortlands tavern is also conveniently located right opposite the Shortlands Train Station which makes it easy to make (or stumble) your way home. If your pooch has some energy to burn or you need to walk off the food before your journey home, you could take a stroll next door to the Queensmead Recreational Ground for a fun afternoon game of fetch.

Recommendation: Sunday Roast Lamb with all the trimmings

Pros:

  • Large and beautifully decorated beer garden

  • Reasonable prices
  • Great atmosphere

The Partridge

The Partridge is a Victorian-style, traditional pub with chandeliers and a beer garden, located in the heart of Bromley.  It offers the best handmade pies I have ever eaten and has a wide range of Ale beers on offer. Best thing about this place is that dogs are aloud inside! So rain hail or shine this pub is a great place to eat and drink with your pup.

  • Friendly service
  • Convenient location

Cons:

  • If you don’t like pies the menu is a slightly limited

The Bickley

Address: Chislehurst Rd, Chislehurst, Kent BR7 5NP

Phone: 020 8468 7613

The Bickley is a modern pub set in the leafy suburban surroundings of Bromley right by Chislehurst station. The décor is beautiful, modern and stylish whilst still keeping its traditional English charm. It offers 3 menus all year round, a seasonal menu, an all day menu and a bar menu. All of these menus can be enjoyed in the large bar area or in the modern restaurant which is spread over multiple floors. However my favourite thing about this pub is the fantastic large beer garden located out back! It is extremely dog and family friendly and has a large gated playground for the kids. Children of the two and four legged kind are more than welcome at the Bickley!

Recommendation: The Bickley rotisserie chicken  & The Sunday Roast

Pros:

  • Dogs are permitted inside and outside
  • Friendly service
  • Convenient location
  • Large beautiful beer garden

Cons:

  • Prices are a little on the high side
  • Not much cover in the beer garden should it rain

Happy Pub hopping! xx
